‘True Blood’ Preview: The Fangs Come Out

True Blood got its spark back last week, literally in the case of Sookie. With her special powers acting up again, her mystery will be explored. We’ll also get a lot more of King Russell’s plan, Jason the cop abusing his power, Debbie vs. Arlene and the return of Queen Sophie-Anne. That’s a lot to take in.

Here’s the official episode description:

“Spurned by Eric, Sookie fears the worst for Bill, whose fate now lies in Lorena’s hands. Fueled by a night of bloody passion, Tara executes a desperate plan to stave off Franklin’s advances. In Bon Temps, Tommy finds it difficult to leave the family nest; Jessica gets her fix from a Merlotte’s customer; and Jason’s romance with Crystal hits a snag, as does Lafayette’s with Jesus. After revealing his master plan to Eric, Russell pays a visit to Louisiana in order to start executing it.”

True Blood: Spoiler Alert!

I’ve just come across the synopsis for the next few episodes of True Blood, and Sophie-Anne finally makes another appearance! It looks as if her storyline is coming into play now, at last. I’ve put the loglines for the five August episodes (#31 – #35) beneath a cut to make sure no-one gets spoiled – read at your own risk!

New ‘True Blood’ Still

Add one part hellfire and one part cherub, you’ve then got Sophie-Ann the Vampire Queen, played by Evan Rachel Wood for True Blood. We’ve only seen this character a couple times previously, but season 2 left us appropriately thirsty for more of this lady.

When we last saw Sophie-Anne in season 3 she was in an all black and fur ensemble, which was retro as always, glamorous as always, but also a little more bad ass.

In an upcoming episode Wood will play Sophie-Anne dressed all in white, once again. Her red hair is a perfect compliment to her bitter disposition, and tres perfect clothing. Despite how bratty she can be, wouldn’t you love to hang out with her at her place? You’d get to play Yahtzee!

‘True Blood’ Trails: Sophie-Anne, Please Seduce Us

There have been a lot of mixed reviews regarding Evan’s portrayal of Queen Sophie-Anne in this week’s premiere of True Blood, but I came across the article which I think sums up her portrayal pretty well:

As season 3 opens, and Sookie sets out to locate her missing fiancé bloodsucker, all roads point to Evan Rachel Wood’s queen bee vampire Sophie-Anne who was none too pleased to learn that Bill was in the know of her vampire blood black-market with True Blood hunk Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard).

By the way, while most girls are split between team Eric and team Bill, as a guy I’m on team Sophie-Anne. Crooked, breathless sexy with an absurdist fetish for playing Yahtzee, Wood turns in a nuanced diva portrayal rivaling her mirror image, that of Anne Rice’s Lestat. Here’s a woman that makes Eric’s alpha male quiver in his leather pants. I can only hope that Sophie-Anne wrecks havoc on Bon Temps, in the same way that William Randolph Hearst did to “Deadwood.” Like many of the great characters Wood plays, there’s a swarm of bees flying around in her soul dramatically, thus triggering her earth-shattering performance. The question begged: how much of Sophie-Anne will we see? Hopefully a lot.

More Sophie-Anne, please!
